Days of Awe: Tashlich

For Tashlich, we gather on the banks of the Hudson River to cast off crumbs of bread symbolizing the stale narratives and old habits of mind that we want to be free of in the coming year.

We'll be meeting at Long Dock Park in Beacon. Feel free to bring some stale bread to cast off and some food to share. Please bring a blanket and picnic dinner so we can linger and spend some time together at the river.

This is an opportunity to reflect on the lives we are living and the aspirations we are both pursuing and forgetting. It’s a time for thinking about who we really are, and accounting for whether we are living in right relationship with ourselves, our family, our friends, and the Holy One of Blessing.

At Beacon Hebrew Alliance, everyone is welcome for this period of introspection and prayer. However, we ask that everyone please register so we know how many people to expect.

While there is no specific fee for participating in the Days of Awe at BHA, we invite you to contribute to BHA so we can continue to be the home for vibrant Jewish life in the Hudson Valley.  If you'd like to offer a tribute to a loved one in our Days of Awe booklet that will be distributed through out the holidays, either in honor or in memory of, please visit here

Finally, if you have any questions, please email us or call 845.831.2012 x3. If you have questions about what to expect at our services, this FAQ page might help.

We look forward to welcoming the new year with you!
