Cantor Ellen P. Gersh & Jessica Simkovic Chanting Group: An Open to the Sky Event
Ellen Gersh and Jessica Simkovic will lead a chanting group. Whether you chant regularly or have never chanted before, come and share your voice.
Chanting opens the heart and makes love flow within us. It is a way of getting in touch with yourself. It's an opening of the heart and letting go of the mind and thoughts. It is a way of being present in the moment. Please join Jessica Simkovic and Ellen Gersh as they lead us in chant. No experience necessary, just come with an open mind and open heart. Feel free to share your favorite chant.
Open to the Sky is a reimagining of the ancient Jewish holiday of Sukkot. A sukkah (pronounced sue-kah) is a sand mandala of a building, open to the sky and used for seven days around the time of the fall harvest and then dismantled. It's rickety and tenuous, creating the illusion of permanence and highlighting the impermanence of everything. For more information about the holiday and Open to the Sky, please click here.
All of the programs of Open to the Sky are offered without charge; however, there are (of course) costs associated with the construction and maintenance of this project. If you can help support Open to the Sky with a donation of any size, please click here.
