Kazumi Tanaka Discusses Her Travels to India & Nepal: An Open to the Sky Event

Kazumi Tanaka will share experiences from her recent trip to Delhi, Jaipur, India and Kathmandu.  In addition to showing images and video, she will reflect on the many natural phenomena happening around the world in recent months, as well as the state of Kathmandu after the 2015 earthquake.

Open to the Sky is a reimagining of the ancient Jewish holiday of Sukkot. A sukkah (pronounced sue-kah) is a  sand mandala of a building, open to the sky and used for seven days around the time of the fall harvest and then dismantled. It's rickety and tenuous, creating the illusion of permanence and highlighting the impermanence of everything. For more information about the holiday and Open to the Sky, please click here

All of the programs of Open to the Sky are offered without charge; however, there are (of course) costs associated with the construction and maintenance of this project. If you can help support Open to the Sky with a donation of any size, please click here.
