Dance Workshop with Anna Marcus: An Open to the Sky Event
A dancer, writer, and personal historian, Anna Brady Marcus will lead a workshop that mines movement and dance to unlock memories stored in our bodies. We will then use these discoveries as prompts to write new stories about ourselves. No previous dance or writing experience is necessary. Please wear loose clothing and bring a notebook.
Open to the Sky is a reimagining of the ancient Jewish holiday of Sukkot. A sukkah (pronounced sue-kah) is a sand mandala of a building, open to the sky and used for seven days around the time of the fall harvest and then dismantled. It's rickety and tenuous, creating the illusion of permanence and highlighting the impermanence of everything. For more information about the holiday and Open to the Sky, please click here.
All of the programs of Open to the Sky are offered without charge; however, there are (of course) costs associated with the construction and maintenance of this project. If you can help support Open to the Sky with a donation of any size, please click here.
