PJ Library Mid Hudson Valley Family Sukkot Treasure Hunt: An Open to the Sky Event

Help find the four species and other important objects, learn a Sukkot song, use your five senses in the Sukkah as we taste, smell, see, feel and hear elements of the holiday. All ages welcome!

Open to the Sky is a reimagining of the ancient Jewish holiday of Sukkot. A sukkah (pronounced sue-kah) is a  sand mandala of a building, open to the sky and used for seven days around the time of the fall harvest and then dismantled. It's rickety and tenuous, creating the illusion of permanence and highlighting the impermanence of everything. For more information about the holiday and Open to the Sky, please click here

All of the programs of Open to the Sky are offered without charge; however, there are (of course) costs associated with the construction and maintenance of this project. If you can help support Open to the Sky with a donation of any size, please click here.
